OUR STORY

We started because we couldn't find spices we trusted.

Masala Mahal isn’t a hundred-year-old empire. It’s a young, women-led family business in Jalandhar, built on one stubborn belief: the everyday spices in your kitchen should be exactly what they claim to be.

Somewhere along the way, "haldi" stopped meaning turmeric. It started meaning turmeric, plus colour, plus chalk, plus whatever kept costs down. We just wanted the first part back.

THE
PROBLEM

Where it began

A kitchen, and a nagging doubt

It started with a simple question in our own kitchen: Why does this haldi look so unnaturally bright? Why does the mirch stain everything a vivid red, but tastes so little?

The more we looked, the worse it got. Turmeric adulterated with lead chromate. Chilli powder bulked with brick dust and banned dyes. Coriander is stretched with husk and starch. Not in some rare bad batch routinely, across the open market we all buy from.

What we decided

Go back to how daadi did it

We didn’t set out to reinvent spices. We set out to un-ruin them. Real spices, sourced honestly, ground fresh in small batches, the way our grandmother would actually recognise.

And then we added the one thing she never needed, but we do, because trust has to be earned today: we lab-test every batch. For colours, for fillers, for the metal residues hiding in turmeric. Not as a marketing line as proof.

THE
SOLUTION

"Asli masala woh hai jo aapki daadi pehchaan le. "

The belief Masala Mahal is built on
What we stand for

Three non-negotiables

Tested, not trusted

We don't ask you to take our word. Every batch is lab-tested for adulterants, and the report is yours to see. Proof over promises.

Nothing hidden

No artificial colour, no chalk, no starch fillers, no MSG. What's on the label is what's in the pack, and nothing the label leaves out.

Fresh, in small batches

We grind little and often, so the oils that carry the flavour are still alive when the pack reaches you, not faded after months in a warehouse.

The hands behind Masala Mahal
A women-led brand

Run by the people who actually cook with it

Masala Mahal is a women-led family business, and that’s not a tagline it’s who decides what goes in the pack. The people choosing our spices are the same people using them in their own kitchens every day.

That changes things. When you cook with your own product daily, you can’t hide behind a spec sheet. You notice when the aroma fades, when the colour looks off, when something isn’t right. That daily, personal standard is the real quality control.

"We won't sell a spice we wouldn't put in our own family's dinner."

When you buy from us, you’re backing a small, honest, women-led business trying to do one ordinary thing extraordinarily well: make spices you can trust without thinking about it.

Our mission

To make honest, everyday spices the normal choice again, not a premium you have to hunt for. Pure haldi shouldn't be rare. We're trying to make it ordinary.
